Great American Smokeout

Day One: Support Starts Here

Join the Center for Health Education & Wellness for the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout on Thursday, November 15th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at the Student Health Center building, Room 206A/B.

The Great American Smokeout is an annual event that encourages the UT community to commit to healthy, smoke free lives. Quitting smoking isn’t easy. It takes time and a plan. The Great American Smokeout can be your Day 1 to begin your smoke-free journey. Stop by for information about support and resources for those interested in reducing or quitting smoking, how to support those planning to quit, fun activities, and giveaways – including a free shirt!

The event is free and open to students, faculty, and staff. Lunch will be provided.

According to the American Cancer Society, smoking is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, accounting for 29% of all cancer deaths. Cigarettes are the most harmful tobacco products and there is no safe level of exposure to tobacco smoke. Quitting smoking has immediate and long term health benefits, but quitting is hard. It can take several attempts, so it helps to have a plan and plenty of support.
