Sexual Assault Response Team (S.A.R.T.)

The Sexual Assault Response Team (S.A.R.T.) was developed within the Division of Student Life to create access to resources for individuals who experience sexual assault or sexual violence. Sexual assault affects multiple aspects of a victim’s life including, but not limited to, personal safety, health, relationships, work and finances.

S.A.R.T. is a multidisciplinary team of individuals who work collaboratively to provide services to students who have been victims of sexual assault. S.A.R.T. utilizes a victim-centered approach to create a support network for sexual assault survivors. Through coordination of resources and reporting protocols for sexual assault victims, S.A.R.T. is focused on minimizing the trauma experienced in a sensitive and proficient manner.

In addition to their significant academic and administrative expertise, members of S.A.R.T. represent the rich diversity of our campus community and have received specific and unique training to work with individuals reporting a rape or sexual assault. The goal of S.A.R.T. is to ensure personal support and timely care is provided for rape and sexual assault victims, and that the proper authorities are consulted. S.A.R.T. is chaired by Ashley Blamey, Director of the Center for Health Education & Wellness.

S.A.R.T. and the S.A.R.T. Advisory Committee work together to provide the Division of Student Life with accurate information related to reporting and addressing sexual assault. The S.A.R.T. Advisory Committee provides guidance and annual review of the S.A.R.T. protocols and procedures.
